Tennessee
Beneath the Smokies at Tuckaleechee Caverns
We descended 20 million years through time into the heart of the Smoky Mountains at Townsend’s Tuckaleechee Caverns. One of only two places left in this region of Tennessee that visitors can still explore. Tunnels and passages led past grottos, stalagmites, stalactites and the tallest subterranean waterfall in the Eastern United States.
Whitewater Rafting in the Smoky Mountains
Our rubber rafts hit the rapids- churning through the Class III Vegamatic, rocking the Class IV Double Reactionary and surfing the Super Glue. It was a hot summer’s day in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and we were whitewater rafting on the Big Pigeon River.

No Bears: A 2015 Bear-Encounter Review
No bears. What can I say, 2015 was a total bust in sighting a live bear, and boy did we try! I’ve been obsessed with bear-spotting for some bizarre reason this past year. I’ll put the blame on my dear sister, Sandy, who together with her husband, has had more then their fair share of bear sightings this year (floridahikes.com). I took the kids and headed out into the heart of bear country at the Black Bear Wilderness Area in the heart of Florida, all in hopes of spotting a bear. 1,600 acres of bear territory.
