Florida Outdoor Writers Association Conference 2017
FOWA’s annual conference took place in Ocala in Marion County. It was my first writer’s conference and to be honest, I had no idea what to expect. With fishing tournaments, casting & shooting contests, I suspected I’d be the like that girl who shows up to a barn-raising wearing white. Awkward and out of place.
To my surprise, the Florida Outdoor Writers gave me a warm welcome (and no- I did NOT wear white!). They were a friendly bunch of outdoors enthusiasts over-flowing with tales of Florida adventures. Our days were filled with adventures, workshops, and behind the scenes tours in our host county. We kept busy during the conference.
I met so many new people and learned about some incredible programs and activities throughout Florida. Having an older child looking into colleges, the scholarship opportunities were eye-opening- and open to the public (woohoo!) I’ll be sharing these programs and activities in the coming weeks- so subscribe to Adventures of Mom to keep updated! But for now- check out the video recapping some highlights of the FOWA 2017 event.
