Known as the best Easter celebrations in all of Greece, people flock from all over the world to celebrate Greece in Corfu, and for good reason. Whereas some cultures put an emphasis on Christmas, in Greece, it’s all about Easter. But forget about the plastic eggs filled with candy and the bunny who delivers gifts, the Greek Easter, the main Orthodox holiday, is all about family, food, community spirit, and the celebration of the resurrection of Christ.

Camping in South Florida: A Flashback Friday Tale
I car-camped in the Florida Keys with a pair of friends- it was that road trip to Mexico that went astray, as free-spirited road trips do. We stopped off in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, and then heard there was Bike-Week happening in Daytona Beach, and the next thing we knew, bam, we were in Key West during Spring Break! Our days were spent on the beaches, our nights hanging out on Duval Street. We were there to party. Really, do young people come to the Keys for any other reason?
Mardi Gras Madness: A Flashback Friday Tale
We were young, crazy, and on a road trip to Mexico. It was February and Mardi Gras was in full swing in the historic city of New Orleans, Louisiana, so as true adventurers do, we headed for the biggest party in America. This is a Flashback Friday Tale: Mardi Gras Madness.
Finding Mont St. Michel: A Flashback Friday Tale
We headed to Mont St. Michel on my whim- “it’s not that far” so I told my friend- or it didn’t look like it on the map (yeah, I ended up in Nepal under the same guise- “it’s only next door” (three full travel days later). Won’t I ever learn? Adventuring is sporadic, spontaneous and serendipitous. If we always traveled according to set plans and itineraries, it would not be so much fun! So here’s today’s Flash Back Friday Tale: Finding Mont St. Michel.
Monster Encounter in Corfu: A Flashback Friday Tale
One sunny afternoon I decided to venture into the wilds with my trusty dog, Max, at my side…I was young, I was on a beautiful Greek Island and certainly did not expect to encounter the monster of Varypatades: A Flashback Friday Tale…
Marrakesh Express Mystery
My friend, Lisa and I arrived off the ferry boat from Algeciras, Spain after joining forces with some solo-backpackers. We arrived at ten in the evening and a knife-wielding local immediately greeted our group with a toothy grin. “Give me your money,” he said. A nearby customs officer shouted at him and waved him away. Was this the equivalent of the Aloha greeting in Hawaii with the lei- girls? Welcome to Morocco! A Flashback Friday Tale.
Escaping an Attempted Abduction in Istanbul
This is a tale BC (before children) of how I escaped an attempted abduction during my travels in Istanbul: My feet took me back to the Grand Bazaar, where I had gotten lost in the labyrinthine streets and stalls that dated back to the 1400’s, with my friends earlier, but at night a market is quite a different place. Shadows stretched across the darkened shops, cafes crowded with men spilled out into the aisles, the smoke of the hookah pipes clouded the air…
Adventures in Morocco
I have only been to Africa once, and believe it or not, that was an accidental adventure… My friend and I meant it to be a day trip to Morocco- we would check out the shops, pick up some souvenirs and pop back to Spain, where we had stored our backpacks during our intended day-out. Hahaha. Five days later…
